Torque Specifications
These aren't guesses. These are the numbers that kept my wheels on the road for 800,000 miles. Memorize them, or don't drive.
| Component | Vehicle | Spec | Torque (ft-lbs) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lug Nuts (Stud) | Chevy Silverado (1980-1990) | M14 x 1.5 | 140 | Star pattern only |
| Lug Nuts (Stud) | Int'l Harvester S-Series | 7/8" x 9 | 120 | Check twice before lifting |
| Wheel Bearing Nut | Dual Rear Axle | 1 1/16" | 350 | Break loose with impact |
| U-Bolt (Leaf Spring) | Heavy Duty Suspension | 5/8" Grade 8 | 110 | Replace every 50k miles |
| Radiator Cap | Universal Diesel | 15 psi | N/A | Pressure test required |
Note: Always apply anti-seize compound to studs before torquing. Dry metal steals torque.

The Golden Rule
Never tighten a nut on a moving truck.
That's not a joke. That's the difference between a successful load and a broken axle on I-95. Slow down. Park safe. Then work.
