The Long Haul Blues

Stories from the Road, Songs from the Heart

The Night the Bridge Shook

It was 1987, and the rain was pourin’ down like someone had opened the floodgates in the sky. I was haulin’ a load of fresh produce from Kinston to Atlanta, and I had to cross that old I-95 bridge near the bend. The wind was howlin’, and the bridge started shakin’ like a leaf in a hurricane. My hands were white-knuckled on the wheel, and I could feel the fear in my bones.

But then, I remembered the words of my old mentor, a man named Big Joe, who told me, “Antonio, when the road gets rough, you don’t stop. You sing.” So I turned up the radio, found a B.B. King track, and started hummin’ along. That bridge didn’t shake me down. Instead, it made me realize that even in the darkest storms, there’s a rhythm if you just listen close enough.

The Rhythm of the Road

For over forty years, I’ve driven every kind of road you can imagine. From the dusty backroads of rural North Carolina to the bustling highways of New York City, each mile has taught me something new. The road isn’t just a path; it’s a teacher. It teaches you patience, resilience, and the importance of community.

There’s a special kind of magic that happens when you’re on the road late at night, with nothing but the stars and the sound of your own thoughts. That’s when you find the true rhythm of life. It’s in the quiet moments, the laughter shared with fellow drivers at a rest stop, and the stories that get passed down like heirlooms.

“The road is long, but the journey is short if you know where you’re going.”
— Antonio Tircuit

From Driver to Advisor

Now that I’ve hung up my hat as a long-haul driver, I’m spendin’ my days mentorin’ young drivers and helpin’ to build a community-focused delivery startup. It’s a new chapter, but the lessons I learned on the road are still with me. Every time I help a young driver find their way, I’m passin’ on a piece of that old soul.

And now, I’m bringin’ those stories to the digital frontier. This website is my way of keepin’ the memories alive and sharin’ the wisdom of the road with anyone who wants to listen.
